The maple season may be over for this year, but sugarbushes play a role year round in the forest. Join us for a tour at Buck Family Maple Farm to learn about the sugarbush’s role as habitat for birds and other wildlife. The tour will be led by Audubon Vermont conservation biologist Steve Hagenbuch and John Buck of Buck Family Maple Farm. While touring parts of the Buck family sugarbush, Steve will introduce Audubon Vermont’s Bird-Friendly Maple program to attendees, and share what makes a sugarbush bird-friendly and how to manage a sugarbush in a bird-friendly way. The tour will include birding by sight and sound, so attendees are encouraged to bring binoculars if able. The walking tour will be on established woods trails and roads for about 1 mile with some mild to moderate uphill sections along the way. The event will take place rain or shine so attendees are encouraged to dress accordingly, including proper footwear. Attendees are also asked to leave pets at home. The event is sponsored by Vermont Woodlands Association and NOFA Vermont.
