Introducing The Woodland Steward: A Fresh Look for Our Membership Newsletter

This fall, we’re excited to share an updated version of our quarterly membership newsletter, now called The Woodland Steward. The new name reflects what this publication has always been about—celebrating and supporting the people who care for Vermont’s forests. The refreshed format keeps the spirit of our newsletter but makes room for more of the content you’ve told us you value most.
What You’ll Find in Each Issue
Feature Articles
Each quarter includes three longer stories that highlight stewardship in action—profiles of landowners and professionals, reflections from the field, and topics shaping Vermont’s woods today.
News in Brief
A quick roundup of organizational updates, program notes, and forestry news from around the state.
Dear Fern
A new advice column where we answer real questions from our community—from forest management puzzles to wildlife curiosities.
Tree Farm Program Updates
We’ve also expanded the same great coverage of the Vermont Tree Farm Program including newly certified Tree Farms, updates from American Forest Foundation and a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what tree farm inspectors are seeing on the ground
Our hope is that The Woodland Steward continues to feel like a useful, steady connection to the broader woodland community—something you can turn to for learning, inspiration, and a sense of what’s happening across Vermont’s forests. We’re grateful to share this next chapter with you and look forward to hearing what you think as future issues roll out.
