Help Shape Vermont’s Conservation Plan

The State of Vermont is currently developing the Vermont Conservation Plan, mandated by Act 59 (the Community Resilience and Biodiversity Protection Act). This legislation sets an ambitious goal: conserving 30% of Vermont’s land by 2030 and 50% by 2050.

Because roughly 80% of Vermont’s forests are privately owned, the success of this plan will depend on the voluntary participation of landowners and the expertise of the forestry professionals who work in Vermont’s woods.

Whether you own forestland, work in forestry, or care deeply about Vermont’s forests, you understand what it takes to do forest stewardship on the ground. Your practical experience is essential to ensuring that statewide conservation goals are achievable, realistic, and supportive of those who steward working forests.
