Now Accepting Nominations for the 2026 Vermont Tree Farmer of the Year

Every year, the Vermont Woodlands Association and the Vermont Tree Farm Committee come together to honor a woodland owner who demonstrates exceptional commitment to caring for their forest. The Tree Farmer of the Year award celebrates thoughtful, responsible forest stewardship and the invaluable role Tree Farmers play in keeping Vermont’s forests healthy, resilient, and productive. We are pleased to announce that nominations for the 2026 Vermont Tree Farmer of the Year are now open. Nominations are due by January 1st.

What We Look For The Tree Farmer of the Year is selected based on:

  • A nomination submitted by a Tree Farmer, consulting forester, county forester, or any interested community member
  • A site visit and tour of the property by members of the Tree Farm Committee
  • Supporting recommendations from those familiar with the Tree Farmer’s stewardship work
  • The committee considers not only the practices taking place on the land, but also how the landowner shares their work with others through educational programs, outreach, and community engagement..
