Proposed Updates to UVA Standards: What You Should Know
The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks & Recreation (FPR) has released a new draft of the Use Value Appraisal (Current Use) Standards. The proposed changes aim to provide clearer guidance for landowners, consulting foresters, and county foresters.
The revisions include a combination of clarifications, updates and changes to the UVA standards, including new guidelines on forest management plans, such as new requirements for consulting foresters to include information on AMP violations. If your land is enrolled in Current Use, these changes have the potential to impact the cost of your forest management plan.
Vermont Woodlands Association encourages all members and landowners to review the draft standards and talk to your consulting forester to understand how these changes may impact you and your property.
FPR is accepting public input until October 17th. Comments and questions can be sent to Keith Thompson, Private Lands Program Manager at keith.thompson@vermont.gov.
