Summer Woodland Stewardship Potlucks
Woodland stewardship can sometimes feel like a solitary pursuit. Pull up a chair and join other woodland stewards for a community potluck.
Many of us spend hours walking our woods, tackling projects, meeting with foresters, and making decisions about the future of our land. Yet some of the most valuable lessons about caring for forests come from conversations with other landowners.
This summer, Vermont Woodlands Association is launching a series of Summer Stewardship Potlucks across the state. These informal gatherings are designed to bring together woodland owners, Tree Farmers, forestry professionals, and anyone interested in the future of Vermont's forests. There is no keynote speaker. No PowerPoint presentation. No agenda packed with presentations.
Instead, we'll share a meal, swap stories from our woods, discuss local stewardship successes and challenges, and build connections with others who care about Vermont's forests.
Each potluck will reflect its region. Some will include a woods walk led by a forester. Others may feature ice cream, a barbecue, or simply good conversation around a picnic table. What they all have in common is the opportunity to meet fellow woodland owners and learn from one another.
At Vermont Woodlands Association, we believe healthy forests depend on informed landowners, skilled professionals, and strong local communities. These potlucks are an opportunity to strengthen that community and create space for the conversations that help us become better stewards.
Whether you've owned your woods for thirty years or thirty days, we hope you'll pull up a chair and join us.

July 11 | Randolph Center
Guided woods walk with County Forester Robert Nelson followed by a BBQ potluck.
July 12 | Brattleboro
An afternoon ice cream social and woodland conversations at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center.
July 17 | Chittenden
Guided woods walk led by Kathy Beland followed by a BBQ potluck.
July 21 | Albany
An evening gathering for woodland owners and forest stewards from across the Northeast Kingdom.
