Whether you are a forester, landowner, or enjoyer of the outdoors, being able to identify trees enriches your understanding of forests and how to take care of them. Join Ethan Tapper, the Chittenden County Forester for the Vermont Dept. of Forests, Parks and Recreation, for a tree identification walk of the Crane Brook Conservation Area in Underhill. Ethan will help attendees learn to identify some of Vermont’s common tree species using tree bark, buds, and twigs and discuss how each species fits into the unique ecology of Vermont’s forests.
To join the event, meet at 1 PM at the end of New Road in Underhill – parking is by the CBCA kiosk on the left, after the town garage. The event will happen rain, snow, or shine. Be prepared to be outside for 2 hours and to walk through the woods in icy or muddy conditions and over uneven surfaces.
