A Healthy Woods Checkup connects you with a Vermont licensed consulting forester for a free 2–4 hour visit to your property. Together, you will walk your woods, assess forest health and climate resilience, discuss your goals and concerns, and identify practical next steps for caring for your land. Following the visit, your forester will provide a rapid assessment of forest health and climate resilience, along with recommendations and practical next steps tailored to your property.

A Healthy Woods Checkup gives you dedicated time with a participating consulting forester to discuss your concerns, better understand current conditions, and identify practical next steps for caring for your land.
Who Can Participate?
Healthy Woods Checkups are available to Vermont woodland owners who:
✔ Own 25 or more acres of forest
✔ Have a forest management plan or are willing to develop one within the next 12 months
✔ Want guidance on caring for their woods
✔ Are interested in the long-term health and future of their forest

What Happens During a Healthy Woods Checkup?
You'll spend 2–4 hours walking your property with a consulting forester discussing topics such as:
- Your goals and concerns
- Forest health and woodland conditions
- Invasive species
- Wildlife impacts
- Climate resilience
- Management plan updates
- Long-term stewardship goals
Following the visit, your forester will provide an assessment, recommendations and practical next steps tailored to your property.
