Tree to Cutting Board Workshop: A Hands-On Journey Through the Stewardship Cycle

Join Vermont Woodlands Association for a unique, full-day workshop hosted by Tim and Betsy McKay, proud stewards of a certified Vermont Tree Farm. We’ll begin with a walk through their woods with Tim, looking at ongoing active forest management. You’ll gain insight into how thoughtful stewardship enhances biodiversity, structural diversity, and forest health - while supporting sustainable timber production.

Then we’ll harvest a tree, and using a 35 hp farm tractor and winch, skid it to a small portable sawmill. There we’ll watch the log milled into boards. After lunch (included), you’ll choose from a selection of dry boards and craft your own one-of-a-kind cutting board to take home. No woodworking experience needed.

Pre-registration is required. Registration fee is $25. Space is limited—register early to reserve your spot!
