Taking Stock: An Online Course in Legacy Planning (Registration Deadline)

Taking Stock is an online woodland legacy planning course created for family forest owners who are thinking about the future of their land and wondering where to begin.

Through expert-led conversations, shared learning with other landowners, and guided reflection, you’ll gain practical insights and clear next steps to help you make thoughtful decisions about your woods. The course is designed to support real family conversations, whether you are just starting to think about legacy, navigating shared ownership, or exploring conservation and estate planning options.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a clearer understanding of your goals and a practical action plan to help ensure your forest is cared for in the ways that matter most to you, now and into the future.

The course includes:

  • 5 live webinars led by forestry, legal, and communication specialists.
  • Online Classroom – Activities and resources for building your woodland legacy.

  • Woodland Legacy Organizer – A customized planning tool for Taking Stock participants.

  • One on one legacy planning coaching-  Individual sessions with a legacy planning coach to help you identify your goals, discuss options and identify next steps to help you move forward on legacy planning.
