Tree Farm Inspectors

A certified Tree Farm forester plays a critical role in educating, advising, and assisting forest landowners in setting and achieving their land management goals. The Vermont Woodlands Association (VWA) and Vermont Tree Farm take responsibility for training foresters to certify forestland under the American Tree Farm System (ATFS).

These foresters are certified through ATFS and included in the official list of Tree Farm inspectors.

What Does a Tree Farm Inspector Do?

• Reviews the landowner’s forest management plan, maps and other relevant documents

• Conducts a field visit to assess the woodland’s eligibility

• Submits an inspection form to ATFS for approval

• Adds new Tree Farms to the Vermont Certified Tree Farm family
