
VT Tree Farm Committee
The Vermont Tree Farm Committee is the volunteer leadership body that oversees the Tree Farm Program in Vermont. As the state-level affiliate of the American Tree Farm System® (ATFS), the Committee ensures the program operates with integrity, transparency and a commitment to supporting private woodland owners in their stewardship journey.
What the Committee Does
The Vermont Tree Farm Committee is responsible for:

Administering the Tree Farm certification process in Vermont

Supporting and training Tree Farm inspectors

Coordinating outreach, education and events for Tree Farmers

Upholding the standards and mission of the American Tree Farm System®

Recognizing and celebrating outstanding forest stewardship
The Committee works closely with the Vermont Woodlands Association, which serves as the state program sponsor, to strengthen Vermont’s Tree Farmers and grow a strong community of forest stewards.

Together, members bring diverse perspectives—united by a shared commitment to sustainable forestry, private landowner support and the long-term health of Vermont’s forests.
Meeting Schedule and Participation
The Committee typically meets six times per year, either remotely or in person. Additional meetings or subcommittee meetings may be scheduled as needed. Meetings are open to all interested stakeholders and all Tree Farm program participants.
