Walk in the Woods at the Camardo's Tree Farm

Come get up close and personal with a forest in an exciting stage of development – 5 years after a harvest! Join landowner hosts, Joe and  consulting forester Dan Thompson, county forester Tessa McGann, and VT Audubon representative Tim Duclos, who will highlight examples of and opportunities for enhanced bird habitat.

Joe and Linda Camardo are grateful stewards of a 247-acre Tree Farm in Jamaica, where they continue the conservation and recreation legacy of the Bergfeld family before them. The forest features around five miles of trails, including a nearly 500 foot climb, stream crossings, a marvelous hemlock stand, beaver dams, wetland, and a resident blue heron, along with a host of wildlife, fungus, and plant life.

With planning and oversight from consulting forester Dan Thompson, this forest was carefully logged by John Colvin in 2020. Neighbors and curious minds from across the state are invited to come learn about forest ecology, management, and outcomes of the recent harvest, as well as, in the words of Linda and Joe, “to enjoy the peace and beauty of the land”.

This walk is free, and open to all. Please sign up to let us know your coming so we have enough treats!
